How to Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using Windows Quickpwn 2.2
Please note that this guide is meant for factory unlocked set of iPhone 3g. If you are using official locked set from your telco and wish to software unlock your iPhone 3g in future, please ignore this guide and use Pwnagetool 2.2 to build the custom firmware that does not update the baseband/modem firmware.
Requirements:
- iPhone 3g
- iTunes 8.0.2
- Quickpwn 2.2
- firmware 2.2
- Windows pc
Steps:
1. Please skip this step and proceed to step 2 if iTunes version is 8.0.2.
a. Disconnect your iPhone 3g from your PC.
b. Download latest iTunes from Apple webpage and install it. Or,
c. On iTunes menu bar, go to Help and select Check for Updates. Download and
install latest iTunes.
2. Please skip this step and proceed to step 3 if your iPhone 3g is on firmware 2.2.
a. Launch iTunes 8.0.2, make sure your iPhone 3g is connected to your PC.
b. On iTunes, hold down shift key and click restore button. A windows popup and browse to firmware 2.2 and open it. Let iTunes restore and wait for your iPhone 3g to reboot.
c. After reboot, wait iTunes to activate your iPhone 3g and you'll see a message "iPhone Activated" once it's done.
3. Launch Quickpwn 2.2, make sure your iPhone 3g is connected to PC and click next button. QuickPwn will close the Itunes if it's still running.
4. Quickpwn will display iPhone 3g picture, browse to locate firmware 2.2 and it will verify the file. A tick will appear on the iPhone 3g picture if verification is match and click next button.
5. Now you can choose to install Cydia or Installer or replace the boot logo and click next button. If you wish to use Apple logo, do not check the replace the boot logo option.
6. Quickpwn once again will confirm that you have connected your iPhone 3g to PC and click next button.
7. Follow Quickpwn on-screen instructions to DFU mode. It will transfer the files to your iPhone 3g. All you need to do is to wait your iPhone 3g to reboot and do not interrupt it. Your iPhone 3g will be jailbroken once its reboot.
